What Is Pet Insurance?

Posted: 10/19/2009

Pet insurance is insurance that is designed to cover the cost of veterinary visits if you pet were to become ill or if they become injured in some unforeseen accident. Certain pet insurance policies may even pay out if your pet were lost or stolen, or even if they were to die.

The main purpose for pet health insurance is to alleviate the high cost of treating your pet if they were to become sick or injured. As certain medical drugs and techniques can be expensive depending on the veterinarian you chose, some pet owners may increase their living standards and health care for their pet accordingly, in turn causing the pet insurance market to continue to grow as well.

One final thought. If you have a beloved animal that has been with you and your family for years, and they accidentally swallowed something that needed expensive surgery to be removed, wouldn't you be wise to have pet insurance to cover some of the cost, maybe all?
