Posted: 10/31/2009
Medicaid was designed to provide health care insurance coverage to our nation's disabled, poor and the impoverished elderly people. Medicaid was created as a combined effort of the federal government and the states, with the federal government setting coverage requirements and a minimum eligibility standard. Medicaid is known as an entitlement program, which requires any state that wishes to participate to provide care specified under the federal government's guidelines to everyone who is eligible.
