What is Boiler Insurance?

Posted: 10/19/2009

22 million homes in the UK are currently heating the hot water for their homes with a boiler, but under their standard insurance coverage, boilers are not listed. The repair or replacement cost may be expensive, so the recommendation is to purchase central heating and boiler insurance as a separate policy. Boiler insurance coverage is a requirement for the landlord of the home, or you as the homeowner. In the case of a private ownership or social housing for rent, you are not responsible for any boiler repairs that are required in the home. By contract, you may be paying monthly for a period of six months to a year for boiler coverage, and there are three main types of cover offered in the UK. They are known as Boiler and service, Full heating system, and Boiler only. It is also important to note that four out of ten households do not have their hot water boilers serviced yearly, which could lead to inefficient and unsafe units.
